The musical language is tonal but slightly chromatic and has proved a popular item at recitals where it’s been played. The piano shares some of the melodic material with the flute and the music evokes peace and tranquility; there’s a brief yet passionate passage near the middle of the piece before the music returns to the quite place where it began. It’s estimated that the standard is about ABRSM Grade 4 to 5. This work would make an excellent addition to a flute recital.
