Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Ralph Sauer. Baroque,Classical,Renaissance. Score and parts. 44 pages. Gordon Cherry #6285529. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792761).

Bach's Ricercare a 3, from The Musical Offering, BWV 1079, is a collection of Canons and Fugues based on a single musical theme given to Bach by Frederick the Great of Prussia. The Ricercare a 3 is a three-voice Fugue, a close cousin to the six-voice Ricercare from the same collection.

Mr. Sauer has brilliantly scored Bach’s three-voice Fugue for 6-part Trombone Ensemble. The texture of which is quite transparent until the ending, which goes out in a blaze of glory.

The work is about six minutes in length and is suitable for advanced performers.
