Quilombolas are the descendants and remnants of enslaved Africans who came to Brazil and fled to the interior of the country, forming communities that survive on natural resources.
Until a few decades ago, many of them did not have access to electricity, education and health.
In 2019 I had the opportunity to get to know some of these communities and this experience was the inspiration for this composition, with themes that portray the suffering and also the joy of this population.
A great opportunity to expand your band repertoire with an small but expressive brazilian music piece.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
