Hodie is a three movement choral suite for Christmas. It is a rhythmic and joyous short work to announce the Christmas Season. Hodie is harmonically complex, using parallel major and minor harmony in each song. Based on anonymous Latin texts, an English text is also provided. For Mixed Chorus and Piano. Published as separate octavos, the three movements of Hodie are listed below. In a lilting 6/8, the question is asked, "Tell us, shepherds, who you've seen?" Chromatic and polytonal harmony add to the interest. Exciting, warm and poignant, yet pastoral.
