Hayao Miyazaki’s film The Boy and the Heron won the Oscar for best animated film at the 2024 Academy Awards. Joe Hisaishi’s enchanting score which perfectly sets the magical tone of the film garnered not only an Oscar nomination but also numerous other awards. “The Great Collapse” is from a dramatic moment in the film where the world collapses into darkness. L. C. Harnsberger has beautifully adapted this music for full orchestra while keeping the spirit of the original soundtrack. This piece is ideal to combine with Harnsberger’s tender arrangement of Hisaishi’s “Ask Me Why (Evacuation)” from the same film (LCH Music #12401).
