This piece was created in 2003 as the theme music for the documentary program Ningen Document (Document of Humans) on NHK, Japan Broadcasting Corporation. Through the music, my intent was to send out an encouragin message to people going through troubles and hardships: "In the midst of darkening skies, though you may not see even a ray of hope, a new day always comes. Be courageous, cheer up, and live on." Even after the program's final broadcast, the work has been adopted by many performers in concerts and recordings. -Takashi Kako.
