If you made yourself a spike of rye, I would find you by your burden And I would also ask you: "Isn’t it hard for you?!" If you were a bird in the woods, I would find you by your voice, mum, I would say, wet from your dew: "What sorrow makes you sing like that?!" If you were a flower in the valleys, I would find you by your breath, And I’ll tell you my heavenly words: "Mother, you are still beautiful!"
