Extensive preface included in Polish, German, and English. The titular term 'juvenilia' denotes student works - the exercises in composition written during the first three years of studies with Heinrich Urban, from the autumn of 1895 to the spring 1898. Only the first of the compositions included in this volume - the character piece Chant de mai for piano - represents the earlier works composed during the Warsaw years. The piano miniature is the oldest extant work by Karlowicz.
