Jan Cober is famed worldwide as a conductor for wind orchestras of renown. He also produces transcriptions for carefully selected works from the classical repertoire. The Russian composer Vasily Sergeyevich Kalinnikov (1866-1901) has never enjoyed great fame, probably due to his short life. Jan Cober discovered this work through intensive research and his transcription has given it a second life on the concert stage.

Jan Cober is wereldwijd gekend als dirigent van gerenommeerde blaasorkesten. Ook maakt hij transcripties van zorgvuldig geselecteerde werken uit het klassieke repertoire. Met dit werk van stellen wij de eerste van een hele reeks transcriptiesvan Jan Cober aan u voor. Vasily Sergeyevich Kalinnikov (1866-1901) bleef wellicht door zijn korte leven ten onrechte vrij onbekend. Ook dit werk ontdekte Jan Cober door intensieve research en bracht het weer tot levenen naar het concertpodium.

Vasily Sergeyevich Kalinnikov (1866-1901) starb sehr fruh und erreichte keinen hohen Bekanntheitsgrad. Jan Cober entdeckte dieses Werk durch intensive Recherche und schenkt ihm ein zweites Buhnenleben. In seiner ganz eigenen Serie sorgfaltig ausgewahlter Werke hat sich Jan Cober zum Ziel gesetzt bislang unbekannte aber interessante Werke zu erforschen, und diese Symphonie entspricht zweifellos diesen Kriterien.

Jan Cober est mondialement celebre pour ses talents de chef d'orchestre qu'il a d'ailleurs exerces aupres d'orchestres de cuivres renommes. En marge de la direction d'orchestre, il s'adonne egalement a la transcription de morceaux soigneusement selectionnes du repertoire classique. C'est sans doute en raison de sa courte vie que ce russe Vasily Sergeyevich Kalinnikov (1866-1901), est injustement meconnu. C'est au terme de recherches intensives que Jan Cober a decouvert cette oeuvre, a laquelle il donne un souffle nouveau et qu'il a ramenee sur les podiums d'orchestre.
