Composed by Steven Monrotus. Contemporary Classical,General Worship,Repertoire,Recital. Score. 6 pages. Published by Steven Monrotus (S0.429235).

This work, by lacking an obligatory pedal part, is entirely playable on a one manual pipe organ without pedals, an electronic keyboard with pipe organ samples, a reed organ (harmonium), or even a piano.  While it would make for effective recital and lesson material a place can be easily found for it in a variety of situations in the worship service.  This is a majestic march with a rousing theme written in 4 parts.  In its construction it employs a pair of 2-part canons at the octave based upon the 1st phrase of the theme, a section which inverts the theme and shares it between voices, a fugato based upon rhythmic transformation of the theme, chromatic harmonies and planing, a dominant pedal point, and ends with a spirited flourish.  This is a companion piece to the D Major Op. 2 Recessional, uses many of the same compositional tools, and passes through 6 other keys, half of which are unrelated, before returning finally to the home key.  This work also finishes with great finality with the full power of the instrument.  It would be difficult to find another march, for 2 hands only, that runs under 4 minutes and is worked contrapuntally with this much variety and modulation, that's this effective.  In this work the stretch for the hands is kept at an octave or less.  Registration suggestions along with indications for hand division are included in the score.  Length:  80 measures.  Duration:  3:32.  Composers Bio page:  OrganBench.com .
