Some pieces are for solo piano and others include a second piano. The book starts with a small introduction to the piano. The student will learn where the notes are on the piano and how they are written in the treble clef. It also introduces the student to the grand staff and the numbers of the fingers of both hands. Most carols are introduced by a diagram of the piano keyboard, with the notes that are played in the piece. The diagram also shows each hand separately and the number of the finger that plays each note. Many of the songs are introduced by a brief history of the carol and the lyrics. This book includes the pieces from the free interactive book for ipad "Piano Lessons for Christmas", which is a story about a boy who wants to learn how to play Christmas carols on the piano, with real sound effects and recordings of the carols, that parents can play to their children, while they tell them the story. The ibook has real interactive lessons about the piano and teaches how to play very easy carols at primer level. Older chrildren can read the story by themselves and learn a little about the piano.
