By Abendmusiken Basel, Alex Potter, Jakob Pilgram, Jorg-Andreas Botticher, Maria Christina Kiehr, Markus Flaig, Miriam Feuersinger, and Raphael Hohn. By David Pohle, Giuseppe Peranda, and Vincenzo Albrici. Classical. Listening CD. Naxos #COV91904. Published by Naxos (NX.COV91904).

In 1656 not everyone was enthusiastic about the reorganization of the Saxon court chapel by Elector Johann Georg II. From then on, Italian composers established a new, modern tone. The Basler Abendmusiken make audible what aroused the emotions in Dresden at that time. Abendmusiken Basel is a vocal and instrumental ensemble based in Basel, Switzerland, and organized to interpret works of the 17th century in historically informed performances. Directed by harpsichordist Jorg-Andreas Botticher, the group is formed of specialists in early music, and it has given concerts at the Predigerkirche in Basel. Its first recording on Coviello, In Convertendo: Sacred Music from the Duben Collection, was released in 2018.
