Composed by Eugene Bondi. Contemporary Classical. Score,Set of Parts. 60 pages. Published by MWMusicWorks.com (S0.731037).

Eugene Bondi (1953–1992) studied cello with Janos Starker at Indiana University and Gregor Piatigorsky at the University of Southern California. He was the associate principal cellist in the Honolulu Symphony for six years, and taught cello at the University of Hawaii and at the Punahou Music School. His Concerto in D Major, Op. 2 is a single-movement work scored for solo cello and small orchestra—flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and strings. It was written specifically for the upper-intermediate level cellist. Thumb position, when used, is based primarily on the half-string harmonic. The player may choose Cadenza A (advanced) or Cadenza B (upper-intermediate). Bondi composed this concerto for his student, Michael Lim, who performed it with the Honolulu Symphony in 1982.
