Recorded by Harry James. Edited by Jeffrey Sultanof and Rob DuBoff. Arranged by Neal Hefti. Swing. Published by Jazz Lines Publications (JL.JLP-8715).This killer, fast swing arrangement was written by Neal Hefti for Harry James in 1949. James's band performed the arrangement in Hollywood, CA that year. The chart features solos for alto saxophone (originally clarinet), tenor saxophone, trombone, piano, and the trumpet soloist (Harry's part). To shorten the performance time of the piece, Harry cut several sections out of the arrangement. These sections have been restored for this publication. This arrangement really has everything a bebop big band chart should: great solis, exciting ensemble passages, interesting solo backgrounds, and a memorable melody! Though this is very difficult, it will be well worth the effort rehearsing it - especially for concerts and festivals! There are no saxophone doubles. Ranges: Trumpet 1: E6; Trumpet 2: D6; Trombone 1: D5; Trombones 2-4: C5.
