Inspired by the haunting beauty of the Welsh mountains and countryside, 'Phantoms' is an atmospheric piece designed to challenge players.

The piece opens with the alto saxophone playing the main melody, and gradually the rest of the quartet join. This melody is then passed through each of the four instruments of the quartet so everyone gets a chance to play, before the four come together to play a rhythmic and intense section. The piece then gives way to a quieter section before the main melody reappears and comes to a gradual and quiet end.

This piece is fun to play and sounds great in a concert setting.
