"Pathos" was the second string quartet I had written by that time. It was completed during the Christmas break of 2010, during the last year of my undergraduate composition studies at Georgia State University. It is a single movement piece, and the reason for this was that I needed, and I finally did, completed three small scale compositions in order to complete and secure my undergraduate composition recital. Moreover, "Pathos" belongs to a group of "dark" pieces in character; filled with melancholy and negative thoughts. It’s energetic sections express the persistency I have as a person to manage to overcome difficulties, however, on the other hand, it contains sections of collapsing sorrow and deep pain.
