The words describe the journey of the Magi to see the infant Jesus. The melody was found by JM Neale in Piae Cantiones. In this arrangement, the piano provides a gentle ostinato suggesting the motion of the camels. The music changes key in the third verse, to add variety, and again in the final verse. This would make an atmospheric and memorable addition to any Christmas Concert.
