"Open Mic Funk I" was the first of three funk-inspired pieces I pre-composed on Tuesday, 12 March 2024 at the weekly open mic night at F.E. Pop's in Florence, South Carolina. It's not so much "funk" as it is sixteenth-note pop, with a strong vibraphone melody. The piece starts in 2/4 before transitioning to 3/4, adding a bit of flavor and variety to the piece.
