In this opening movement of "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere" (45/1160R), René Clausen has crafted a powerful and emotional work. Using the well-known text by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the famous ride is set in an exciting arrangement for wind symphony and chorus. Dr. Clausen combines his talent and experience as a renowned choral director and instrumentalist to meet the double challenge of showcasing a choir in combination with a full wind ensemble and providing musically interesting instrumental parts. The result is a unique composition that features both ensembles in a way that few composers have ever done. Instrumentation: Piccolo, 2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, English Horn, 2 Bassoons, 3 Clarinets, Bass Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Tenore Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, 3 Cornets, 2 Trumpets, 4 Horns, 2 Trombones, Bass Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, Timpani, Percussion, Chimes/Bells, Vibraphone, Marimba.
