The poem was originally published intended to educate children on the nativity of Jesus.
As a wind quintet, the music has been carefully arranged to include features for every part (including an extended horn solo), the passing of interesting countermelodies, and unique harmony to provide greater interest for the listener. While this tune works well during a Christmas concert, it could be used during any concert as a hymn tune, or a feature that highlights artistic contributions from women.
