Level: Great for a student recital piece; popular with college students. Expressive and easy to personalize. Appropriate for intermediate students, but certainly challenging enough to be of interest to professionals as well.
Program notes: This is part of a set of three solo cello pieces written for Micah Claffey based on pastoral/nature themes. Of course musical compositions take on a life of their own, and there's not much one can do about it. This work, began as dichotomy of feelings between the frenzied/bustling feeling of being in the city and the calm/free feeling of being in nature. But during this composition process, I met Timothy Arliss O'Brien, and this work morphed into musical portrait of him as complex individual with his different sides and different moods. I guess music does mimic life!
