A delicately flowing waltz imbues the piano introduction and ensuing accompaniment with a sense of joy and hope. The stanzas are varied in their vocal textures: first, the women in unison, followed by the men, then a bit of dialogue between the two forces. The choral texture increases from two voices to three to four, until the piano reprises the introductory material to bring the piece to a satisfying close.
