Nocturne No. 3 (Lullaby), written in the key of C major to capture the essence of child-like innocence, is an intermediate level work. The arpeggiated theme is supported by a delicate accompaniment that mimics the rocking motion that induces sleep. Diminished harmonies add a bit of ambiguity. The theme goes through subtle transformations with the use of modulation and modal treatment, eventually arriving back to C major.
