Motetus II ist - wie Motetus I (SKR 20028) - ein räumlich konzipiertes Stück für zwei Chorgruppen. Im Gegensatz zum hymnischen Motetus I ist Motetus II jedoch ein Klagegesang, in den das "De profundis clamavi" in mehreren Sprachen (so zumal im hebräischen Urtext), Hilferufe wie "Herr erbarme dich!", ebenfalls in mehreren 'heiligen' Sprachen (so als "Kyrie eleison"), erzählende Passagen aus dem Buch Hiob, aber auch ganz alltägliche Schreie und - archaisch wie modern - Verwünschungen, sogar Flüche eingebaut sind. Komponiert ist in Motetus II nicht so sehr ein einheitlicher, durchziehender Verlauf, als vielmehr eine Reihe prozessualer Ansätze, was einem "De profundis" angemessen sein mag: Rufe aus der Tiefe kommen kaum in einem Strom, sondern als immer neue Versuche.
