A magical piece which at first glance is about its title character, but which becomes, as it unfolds, intensely personal to each singer and listener. Lyrical and sublime, the Anthony Trollope text belies its simplicity by speaking a universal message of youth, age, self-acceptance, and love. The music is beautifully appropriate and fulfilling. A must for all women's ensembles.

Miss Mackenzie is one of five movements from a larger work titled Glimpses for SATB chorus and orchestra or piano four-hands. All texts are in the public domain. Each movement is a vignette of sorts -either an excerpt from a letter, a journal, or book, that describes some experience in that person's life - linked together by a philosophical statement in the final movement. The entire work is about 25 minutes in duration. The performance materials are available from the publisher.
