Blossoms in a tulip tree, flood mem'ries to my mind,
For it was there beneath the flow'ring boughs, two hearts were intertwined.
Hearts carved upon a tree, for all the world to see.
With wedding bands, in a love so true, that it could not be denied,

Never would he want to leave her, never would he want to go,
But he was a military man, a patriot to his soul.

So off to duty he must go, to pay his patriotic due.
She would pray each night, for her military man,
And she would lift her head a little higher, when she heard a patriotic band.
