Midnite Blue is a smooth, relaxed swing ballad from Basie's Atomic album. The tune was written and arranged by Neal Hefti and contains wonderful harmonies plus great interplay and contrast between piano and band. Though originally scored for seven brass, in this transcription it has been scored for 8 brass, with the 3rd trombone part being optional. The piano part is written out in full as-played by Basie, and the chart contains all of the necessary dynamics and phrasing indications that will allow your band to give an authentic parformance. There are no sax doubles.
