Memo is a theatrical solo for a violinist using a small tape recorder on the stage. Following the detailed instructions in the score, the performer records certain passages played by him- or herself "live" and plays them, again following the detailed instructions, in the style of a backing track - a dialogue between the reproduction of the past and "I" emotions here and now.
