Obs.: This score is an arrangement of the famous 19th century hymn Nearer, my God, to Thee for violoncello duet (two cellos) with piano accompaniment. The Violoncello I part can be played entirely in the first position if the cellist so desires. The Violoncello II part uses double stops and is thus to be played by the cello teacher or by a more advanced cellist.
This hymn has become associated with the RMS Titanic, as passengers reported that the string ensemble played it in the final minutes before the vessel sank.
