It was composed in 1913, presumedly for the Concours Samuel-Rousseau de la Société des Compositeurs de Musique.
Madeleine Ferrand was born in the 19th century and probably died in the early 20th century. Though almost nothing is known about her life, she published two melodies in 1909 (La Belle au Bois and Les Colombes).
