Movement 1, "First Light" is a musical interpretation of the special quality of light at dawn. "2. Midday," suggests the fullness of light at noon as the day’s activities occur. The third movement, "Day’s End," highlights the beautiful light of twilight and the promise of things to come. The last movement, "Phosphorescence," portrays glowing bioluminescence in the ocean. Although this is a challenging piece, the parts are very enjoyable and satisfying to play.
