This is a concertante ‘muiñeira’, a musical form typical from Northern Spain (Galicia and part of Asturias) that resembles the lively Irish gig and is usually played by Gallicean bagpipes. Such folk traits gave inspiration to this work, written using a Celtic and New Age harmonic language similar to the one used by Ludovico Einaudi, Yann Tiersen, Michael Nyman as well as Bill Whellan's score for Riverdance. It is a technically advanced work which brings virtuosity to the concert hall as well as a good ending of a recital's programme.Â
