Howard (A0.1401789).This work is a solo piano version of the original three-part choral anthem with accompaniment, that set a text by Revd Canon Dr Gordon Giles, and was composed for the 2022 RSCM Harold Smart Anthem Competition. This piano version plays with alternating A minor and A major tonalities, with three verses exploring forms of textural variation. The imitative recurring chorus is also varied on each return. The coda gradually builds in dynamics, texture and pitch, leading to the final A minor climax. This work is also available in versions for three-part choir, for SA choir, and for solo/unison voices, all with accompaniment, from SMP.
