Jéronimo Giménez (1854-1923) was born in Sevilla. He composed a lot of zarzuelas, symphonic music and chamber music. His most well known compositions are 'El baile de Luis Alonso' (1896) and 'La boda de Luis Alonso' (1897) about the celebrated Spanish dancer Luis Alonso. Both zarzuelas have a beautiful 'intermedio'; with graceful themes almost a classical scherzo. American arranger Douglas McLain transcribed the intermedio of the 'boda' for Symphonic Band.
