I offer an arrangement for solo fingerstyle guitar of the Swedish folk song from Skattungbyn in the province of Dalarna. It is one of my all-time favourite Swedish folk songs. The text of the song is a poetic expression of longing felt for a loved-one. The arrangement goes in a slow waltz with a slight swing and would work well as a dance for romantic couples.
The arrangement uses broken chords with many open strings which are meant to ring out while the melody floats above. The open strings in the chords give the piece a slightly modal character that is typical of many Swedish folk melodies.
The notation and tabs contain extensive left and right hand fingering and is easily within reach of intermediate students of fingerstyle acoustic guitar.
