Composed by Fritz Kreisler. Arranged by Kevin Hall. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical,Multicultural,World. 17 pages. Eine kleine Saxmusik #743877. Published by Eine kleine Saxmusik (A0.1143560).

Austrian-American composer and violinist Fritz Kreisler wrote three short pieces entitled Alt-Wiener Tanzweisen (Old Viennese Dance Tunes): Liebesfreud (Love's Joy), Liebesleid (Love's Sorrow), and Schön Rosmarin (Lovely Rosemary). They were originally published in 1905. I first heard Liebesleid played by Joshua Bell solo. Bell and the piece tugged at your heart strings, mixing equal amounts of wistful and bittersweet. While originally written for piano and violin, the song plays beautifully with the blended tambres of the saxes. In fact, I think only cello or saxes can pull out all the feeling that should be emoted during this tune! Enjoy.
