As cultural ambassador for the state, the Orchestra of the Rhineland-Pfalz State Police commissioned this work to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its founding in 2013.What do Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg and Johannes Gutenberg all have in common? They all represent a revolution in communication and information technology.Johannes Gutenberg, ‘man of the second millennium’, was born Johannes Gensfleisch in the German town of Mainz around 1400. He is regarded as the inventor of the printing press with movable type, which ushered in a media revolution—thanks to his invention, knowledge could find its way to every level of society for the first time. This work is an homageto the great man and the far-reaching impact of his invention that is still felt to this day.

Als cultureel ambassadeur voor de Duitse deelstaat Rijnland-Palts heeft het Landespolizeiorchester Rheinland-Pfalz - in het eigen jubileumjaar 2013, waarin het orkest zestig jaar bestond - de componist opdracht gegeven tot het schrijven van dit werk.Wat hebben Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg en Johannes Gutenberg met elkaar gemeen? Ze staan alle drie voor een revolutie in de communicatie- en informatietechnologie.Johannes Gutenberg, de ‘man van het tweede millennium’, werd omstreeks 1400 als Johannes Gensfleisch geboren in de Duitse stad Mainz. Hij wordt beschouwd als de uitvinder van de drukpers met losse, verwisselbare letters, die uitmondde in een mediarevolutie: voor het eerstlag kennis binnen het bereik van alle lagen van de samenleving. Deze compositie is een eerbetoon aan deze grote man en de verreikende invloed van zijn vinding - die nog doorwerkt tot op de dag van vandaag.

Anlässlich seines 60-jährigen Bestehens hat das Landespolizeiorchester Rheinland-Pfalz als kultureller Botschafter seines Landes im Jubiläumsjahr 2013 dieses Werk in Auftrag gegeben.Was haben Steve Jobs, Marc Zuckerberg und Johannes Gutenberg gemeinsam?Sie alle stehen für eine Revolution in der Kommunikations- und Informationstechnik.Johannes Gutenberg, der Mann des zweiten Jahrtausends“, wurde um 1400 als Johannes Gensfleisch in der deutschen Stadt Mainz geboren. Er gilt als Erfinder der Druckerpresse mit beweglichen Lettern und leitete damit eine Medienrevolution ein - dank seiner Erfindung konnte Wissen erstmals alle Bevölkerungsschichten erreichen. Dieses Werk ist eineHommage an diesen großen Mann und die bis heute weitreichenden Auswirkungen seiner Erfindung.
