For the student not yet reading notes on the staff, this arrangement is perfect! The well-known favourite holiday song Jingle Bells - expanded to include Verse One - is set here in an easy-to-find position, using strong fingers of both hands. The lyrics are included so they can sing along as much as they like
I have been teaching piano for decades, and I am also a professional composer. After several years of teaching I realized that students at different levels often wanted to play the same songs. But one size does not fit all when it comes to “Easy Piano,” and I did not have five versions of Jingle Bells at my fingertips!
So I began arranging songs for in-studio use. Sometimes I ended up with 3 or 4 different levels of a particular song. My preferred method book is Faber’s Piano Adventures, so I used that as a guide for creating my arrangements. Every title I publish has a suggested level that roughly corresponds to books in this series.
Students soon learned that they could request any song they wanted, from a holiday carol, to Mozart, to current pop or rock hits. I have now arranged many songs at more than one level of simplicity, and I am always adding more.
