I have taught piano for about 6 years now, and this theory method is the best I have found if you're not using a specific curriculum with students (Alfred, Bastien, Faber, etc.). For students who are working outside of a curriculum, this series so far has been excellent. I've worked with the prep. level, Book 1, and Book 2. Everything has a flow to it and follows from what came before. There is always a review at the beginning and a test at the end which is very helpful in seeing what students still need to work on. I like this series because the theory doesn't jump around from topic to topic, but like I said, has a flow that's very easy to incorporate into lessons.

I disagree with a previous reviewer. This is NOT what preschoolers learn. Im afraid that reviewer hasnt used these books. They are a great way to teach and reinforce theory fundamentals. They can be used to prepare your students for University credit exams. Hardly what you give a preschooler. I wouldnt expect a preschooler to learn or know the different cadences, or to be able to do a written transposition, Or to be able to sight read music at a level 10. Each unit in a Level is nearly a repeat of the book before, but with more extensive knowledge of the subject. I have all of the books up to level 10 in my studio. I keep a constant supply. You can get answer booklets for each level which saves time as I give each student one by level 4 so they can check their own work. I have them take the review test at the end as a lesson when they finish a book to check their knowledge of that level.

I do NOT advise this product to anyone. This is full of stuff that preschoolers learn. Don't use it!

This is the best theory workbook available. Everything is well explained, work is enlightening, it advances at a good pace. I start my students with the prep book in this series at age 8.

I love this series! I even use it with advancing string students. It's the most gradual, self-reinforcing series I know out there. I'm also used it to help prepare high school students to pass advanced placement theory tests in order to gain college credit. Covers ALL levels!
