Composed by Randall Giles. Cathedral. Choral, Chant, General. Octavo. Paraclete Press #0213. Published by Paraclete Press (PL.0213).

This piece is of a gentleness and sweetness that takes its inspiration from the Gregorian chant. Randall Giles has been long known for his sensitive approach to Latin texts while he has also included the English paraphrase by Edward Caswell. Each verse begins with the text set to the unadorned chant. There follows a four part homophonic setting that is attractive in its lyricism and flow. The harmonies are based on the implications of the chant itself and the work concludes with an Amen for all voices. Any choir with experience in the chant will find this an especially enjoyable work to sing.

Randall Giles has more settings of great beauty., Jesu dulcis memoria (so perfect for the feast of the Holy Name) is given one of those quintessential settings that Randall does so well...This should be required repertory for all major choral situations. - AAM Journal
Randall Giles has kept the tradition of alternatum in his delicious setting of Jesu, dulcis memoria...A cosmic-shifting "Amen" closes this particularly glorious setting. - AAM Journal.
