Benannt ist das Stück nach Jehkin Iivana. Iivana (1843-1911) war einer der letzten großen Vertreter des traditionsreichen Runengesangs und ein Meister im Spiel der Kantele. So faszinierend, wie Mustonen den Klang des finnischen Nationalinstruments von der Gitarre nachempfinden lässt, so eindrucksvoll und größer dimensioniert wirkt die Klavierfassung. Sie schafft dadurch eine Atmosphäre, die den Zauber mythischer Welten greifbar nahe erscheinen lässt.
