An arrangement for violin and piano of a well-known and loved hymn tune. Perfect for traditional and non-traditional church services.
The lyrics to the hymn were written by Horatio Spafford after a series of tragic events in his life, including the death of his son at the tender age of 2 and the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. These events culminated in the death of his four daughters after the SS Ville du Havre, a ship that they and their mother were passengers, collided with the Loch Earn, another sea vessel. His wife alone survived, and as Spafford was sailing to meet her, he penned the words as he passed the spot where his daughters succumbed to the sea.
