Jeff Bjorck's original solo piano arrangement of this classic Christmas carol appears on his album/CD "The Wondrous Gift: A Pure Piano Christmas." On this album, Bjorck juxtaposes this piece with Silent Night because he feels that musically, the two carols are "close relatives." His arrangement evokes images of a deeply dark sky as the backdrop for a myriad of gleaming stars--the setting for the angels' announcement to the shepherds of "Peace on earth, goodwill toward men, from Heaven's all-gracious King." This arrangement is especially suited for Christmas Eve services, especially those held late at night.
