This imaginative chamber work takes its inspiration from two expressions of "music" that our bodies create simply by being alive: heartbeats and breaths. This colorful 10-minute work alternates between music with a steady pulse and music driven by gestures and waves of sound - by turns determined, playful and luminous. (The fourth movement, a scherzo entitled "Behind the ribcage, the gears that won't give up," may be performed separately.).
