In dulci jubilo (In sweet rejoicing) is a traditional Christmas carol. The tune dates back several centuries, and has been frequently quoted and arranged by composers from Buxtehude to Bach to Liszt! In this skillful arrangement, Keith Terrett makes this beautiful work available for clarinet quintet, specifically three soprano clarinets, alto clarinet, and bass clarinet. Although the bass clarinet part does require an extended-range instrument, this only applies to a few notes which could easily be played up an octave if an extended-range instrument is not available. Overall, this arrangement is very accessible in terms of both range and technical difficulty.
