Composers have always used patterns of every sort to order, organize and present their ideas. Without patterns, music does not reach the listener or the performer nearly as effectively. So, here is a piece that uses groups of seconds and thirds in contrary motion, in 5/4 time, and, moving via both tonal and jump-shift modulations, to several key centers. The harmony is bright and cheerful, rather than dark or mordant. The melody is simply the first note in each measure of the treble. The chords eventually turn into arpeggiated or rolled sonorities. The time signature is not difficult to play and follow. Use the pedal for a smoother, flowing effect, or play it dry for a crisper, drier sound. Approx duration 3 mins, can be played faster is desired.
