S. B. Sawyer, an American hymnist in the mid-19th century, adapted this rousing Irish folk tune for his lyrics celebrating the soul’s entry into paradise. The tune is majestic, joyful, and has a great “dance before the Lord” character that I’ve channeled in my contemporary arrangement. Both audio examples are for male voices.
