Ropp (A0.971684).The genesis of this piece was that I was asked to write something that represented what the angels would have sounded like on Christmas, had the angels been a men’s chorus. Without the moderating influence and grace of women, I think a men’s choir of angels would have been wildly exuberant, slightly crazed, and joyous to the ragged edge, but occasionally punctuated by realization of the tenderness and import of the moment.
