Philip Kern is a master at arranging well-loved hymns in an exciting way. One of his arrangements, The Glory of His Promises, was a top-seller when first released. Now, he offers two traditional hymns in His River, His Peace – “It Is Well with My Soul” and “Peace Like a River.” We frequently receive requests for arrangements of old hymns, and this gentle SATB arrangement will go a long way to fill that need. Ladies begin with “It is Well with My Soul,” then men enter singing “Peace Like a River” with all four parts completing the verse. Then, a combining of the two hymns majestically crescendos to a fortissimo conclusion followed by a tender repeat of the final phrase. Glorious.
