Ernst Pepping (1901-1981) is regarded as one of the most important contemporary Protestant church musicians and composers. In addition to the sacred choral works which are central to his compositions, he also wrote secular vocal works. The"Haus- und Trostbuch"contains a total of 42 songs and was published in four parts.
